Mainframe Masterclass Presents - Gurmit Samra & the red carpet premiere of 'Get Gone'

GETGONE_02We are extremely excited to bring you a Mainframe Masterclass with a twist! Not only do we have Derby University alumni, writer, producer and director Gurmit Samra, sharing his filmmaking expertise, but we also have the Red Carpet Premiere of his newest feature film 'Get Gone'.
 

The Masterclass

We'll be kicking off this black tie evening with an interview with writer, producer & director Gurmit Samra. The masterclass will wrap up with a full cast Q&A allowing the audience to pitch their questions to anyone from the cast.

The attendees will then be treated to the premiere screening of Gurmit's newest feature film, Get Gone, currently streaming on Amazon Prime Video!

About The Film
Having been away for three years, Aaron Walker returns to his old estate upon hearing about the death of his younger brother Tom. Aaron is reunited with his Nan and cousin Ryan as they try to come to terms with their loss. Aaron's path soon crosses with old circles in which he learns his cousin Ryan owes a debt to Shane Waldron. Aaron knows Shane only too well having worked for him in the past, and in doing so takes on Ryan's debt in order to stop Shane from taking their Nan's house.

Aaron, having returned a new man, is in continual conflict of reliving his old ways in order to raise the money needed. In his race against the clock he faces an old rival Ben, Shane’s nephew who is out to prove a point. With obstacles in his way and with the help of his ex-girlfriend Danielle and cousin Ryan, Aaron pulls out all the stops, however in doing so uncovers some dark secrets about his past…

About Gurmit

Gurmit's early career in the world of creative arts stems from scripting plays in theatre and producing and directing music videos for up and coming urban acts for MTV and SKY channels. 

After graduating in Film and TV Production & Sociology at Derby University, Gurmit went on to lecture Television & Film at both University & College to hundreds of students aged 16-21 years old. It is here Gurmit took to teaching and grew a passion for changing the lives of young people through creativity.

Gurmit launched Impress in 2009 a video production company Impress Video producing and directing adverts for online companies. Through BGP Ltd Gurmit produced & directed his first short film ‘7 Reasons Why’ which was selected for Cannes Film Festival ‘Short film corner’ in 2013.

In early 2021 Gurmit released his feature film directorial debut ‘Get Gone’ as a Writer, Producer and Director. The film premiered at Camerimage Film Festival in Poland as ‘exciting films from Europe with top cinematography.’

After the release of Get Gone, Gurmit is currently producing a number of program formats at numerous stages of development for both Film and TV.

Writer

Gurmit has written for tv adverts, documentary and feature films, his current project entails writing for a TV series currently in development - which received an honourable mention at the Film Hub london 2019.

Producer
Having produced a number of commercials, a documentary for Amazon Prime and Sky Italy, a feature film for Amazon Prime, Gurmit Samra has consulted on a number of projects covering all aspects of production bringing the right elements together to bring projects in on time and to budget.

Director
Gurmit has relentlessly bought his visions to life on a number of projects. Planning is key where all aspects of the production are drafted by him providing a solid foundation for collaborations with all creatives involved.
